If truth be told, no one wants to think about disability or death. Yet, we know these things are inevitable. Taking the time now to develop a comprehensive estate plan is one of the most important things that you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones. If you fail to plan, you risk leaving it to others or Florida law to make critical decisions that will impact your children, family, finances, and legacy. A standard estate plan includes the following:
Last Will and Testament or
Revocable Living Trust
Durable Power of Attorney
Designation of Healthcare Surrogate
Designation of Preneed Guardian
Your estate plan is personal to you. One size does not fit all. Estate plans start at $650.00.
Probate is the legal process of transferring the assets of a deceased person to their beneficiaries or heirs. The Court oversees the estate to make sure debts are paid and proper distributions are made. Probate is needed when a court order is required to transfer ownership or to distribute assets of the estate. As a probate attorney, I help the personal representative administer the estate of their loved one. A probate attorney is needed whether or not a deceased person died with a will. After law school, I returned to Ocala and have practiced law here ever since. I served as an Assistant Public Defender for two years and worked for Daniel L.
